{"id":371657,"date":"2019-01-16T16:48:46","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T15:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doogreporter.com\/the-power-of-reading\/"},"modified":"2024-12-30T11:46:07","modified_gmt":"2024-12-30T10:46:07","slug":"the-power-of-reading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doogreporter.com\/en\/the-power-of-reading\/","title":{"rendered":"The power of reading"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walking through La Boca, one of the most famous (but lesser-known) <em>barrios<\/em> in Buenos Aires, we stumbled upon this mural: <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fantastic, and not just for the colours &#8211; those who have been to La Boca will remember the palette painting the streets, the houses, and the smiles. <br\/>It is a hymn to the freedom given by reading &#8211; in all its forms &#8211; and to the power of stories to take us anywhere in the world, in and out of people&#8217;s gut feelings. Potentially without stepping outside the front door, but with the connections of a traveller. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And as I&#8217;m reading it, a passage from &#8216;<em>The Old Man Who Read Love Novels<\/em>&#8216; by Luis Sep\u00falveda crosses my mind. <br\/><br\/><strong>Which one?
